Elementary Division

In keeping with the Xaverian tradition, all children are viewed with great giftedness and are encouraged to share their giftedness with others. Lowell Catholic’s academic program allows students to progress from one developmental stage to the next with confidence. The faculty instills in children a genuine love of learning by allowing students to be active participants in the learning process. Committed to teaching to the whole child, the school environment allows children to discover their gifts and talents while providing them with strategies to reach their potential.

Advantages of a Preschool - 12 School

There are significant advantages to the Preschool through 12th grade school model. The opportunities for enhanced curriculum continuity, collaboration among teachers and shared resources across grade levels will ensure students experience seamless transitions from one year to the next. Students will graduate eighth grade with the skills, knowledge and self-discipline to be successful in high school and beyond.

Lowell Catholic places the highest priority on an individualized approach to learning. Our educational focus is directed toward spiritual growth, academic excellence, character development and leadership skills. Faculty and staff are committed to instilling independent thinking and effective communication. An emphasis is placed on building relationships within a community of faith that nurtures and sustains the spiritual values of humility, trust, zeal, compassion and simplicity for all of its members. Lowell Catholic’s curriculum extends beyond the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) model to be a STREAM school. In this way, Lowell Catholic expands the project-based, inquiry-driven STEM model into the areas of Religion and the Arts. This approach allows us to closely align our curriculum with our mission as a Catholic school.

Grades 1-4

In Grades 1-4, skillful individual and cooperative work is fostered by teaching that is intellectually sound, fair, and personally engaging. Students begin their educational journey in a safe and nurturing environment where teachers invite their students to be active participants in their own learning. The curriculum focuses on developing basic skills, particularly literacy, which allows for a strong, well-rounded educational foundation. Learning to read and providing the skills of reading comprehension is a prime overarching goal at this level. Religion, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics, science, and social studies make up the core curriculum. In addition, students participate in art, music, band, world languages, computer technology, and physical education.

Grades 5-6

Students in Grades 5-6 encounter a team approach to their learning. Teams of teachers work on the curriculum collaboratively as they focus on their specialty areas of math, science, English language arts and social studies. This team approach to the disciplines provides a diversified, collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to student learning. Students are presented with primary sources as part of a concentrated effort to create 21st century learning. Teachers together set student goals, design a collaborative syllabus focusing on group expectations and evaluate the results as a team. Team teachers focus on a progressive curriculum that fosters development in student abstract and critical thinking skill sets needed for high school. Teachers share common planning time for collaboration and work as a team to meet the learning needs of their students. Students are allowed to move at their own pace and those that are advanced have opportunities to enroll in high school classes. Students also participate in world languages, art, music, band, drama, computer science, and physical education. In addition, all students will have the opportunity to participate in Community Service and learn the profound impact individuals can have on society.
